Trials for Caregivers: How to Enroll

In the April/May 2018 issue, we wrote about the increasing number of researchers who are studying caregiving with the goal of making caregivers' jobs easier and less stressful.

If you'd like to participate in one, visit clinicaltrials.gov and type "caregiver" and "neurologic disease" into the search bar. Scroll through the list to find a national study or one in your area.

To give you an idea of the scope and variety of these trials, we've listed three here—one in Boston, one in Indianapolis, and one in both Colorado and Florida.

Patient and Caregiver Psychological Functioning Following Neuro-ICU Admission: A Prospective Investigation

What: This study investigates the relationships between patient and family caregiver distress following neuro-ICU admission.

Aging Brain Care ANSWERS

What: The study will observe 200 veterans with traumatic brain injuries or Alzheimer’s disease and provide collaborative care intervention skills for patients and their caregivers.

A Lifestyle Intervention Targeting Enhanced Health and Function for Persons with Chronic Spinal Cord Injury in Caregiver/Care-Receiver Relationships: Effects of Caregiver Co-Treatment

What: This study evaluates a 6-month comprehensive lifestyle intervention that teaches the caregiver about spinal cord injury and evaluates the impact on the caregiver’s health and functioning, as well as the benefits to the patient.
