Immerse your high school students in a specialized neurology experience unlike anything they will see in a classroom. Selected students will participate in hands-on activities supporting next-generation science standards as they learn about the wonders of the brain and career opportunities in the neuroscience field. Led by top physicians in the field of neurology, the day’s activities may include the following:
- Neurologist for a Day Booths—Including a neuro exam, viewing brain waves and brain scans
- Animal Brain Dissection—Students learn about brain structure, function, and organization
- Human-to-Human Interface—Students control their peers’ muscles using their own brain signals
- Human Brain Specimens—Students view postmortem brain specimens and investigate structural abnormalities related to neurologic and neurodegenerative diseases
- Career Panel—Experts and medical students answer questions about entering the field of neurology
