What is Klüver-Bucy syndrome?

Klüver-Bucy syndrome is a rare behavioral impairment that causes people to put objects in their mouths and engage in inappropriate sexual behavior. Other symptoms may include:

• Visual agnosia (inability to visually recognize objects)
• Loss of normal fear and anger responses
• Memory loss
• Distractibility
• Seizures
• Dementia

How can I or my loved one help improve care for people with Klüver-Bucy syndrome?

Consider participating in a clinical trial so clinicians and scientists can learn more about the Klüver-Bucy syndrome and related disorders.  Clinical research uses human volunteers to help researchers learn more about a disorder and perhaps find better ways to safely detect, treat, or prevent disease.
