Clinical Practice Guidelines Open for Public Comment

We Need You.jpg

The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) develops and publishes clinical practice guidelines ("guidelines") to summarize scientific research for doctors and patients. When guidelines are developed, the AAN tries to involve the public as much as possible. This includes patients, caregivers, and consumers.

One way for you to get involved is to read the drafts and provide feedback. There are two times when you can review and comment:

  1. During the project protocol (the plan for the guideline)
  2. When the draft guideline summary is available

You do not need special knowledge or medical training to comment. Guideline authors read each comment and change the guideline as needed.

Guideline Protocols

When reviewing a draft guideline protocol, please tell us:

  • Does the guideline make sense?
  • Does the guideline ask the right questions?
  • Is there anything missing that you would like to be included?
