A New Era for the Magazine

Thirteen years after launching Neurology Now , we're introducing a new take on brain health and living with neurologic disease.

More than a decade ago, we debuted Neurology Now to bring the conversations neurologists have with their patients to a broader audience. The magazine was later expanded to include a website, social media, and, most recently, a Spanish- language edition. Today, our network of contributors includes online stories from patients and caregivers, more firsthand advice from neurologists on our editorial board, and news and updates on treatments in the field.

After more than 10 years, we knew it was time for a makeover and an upgrade. We wanted a publication that was fun to read, easy to understand, and chock full of inspirational stories and unparalleled expertise from neurologists. Enter Brain & Life, a modern approach to brain health and living with neurologic conditions.

Changing the name was a big decision. We knew our readers had come to appreciate Neurology Now, but the word "neurology" can be intimidating. With Brain & Life, we hope we will connect with new readers and build even greater public awareness of the field of neurology, brain health, and living with neurologic conditions.

We also wanted a website that would serve as a dynamic companion to the print magazine, a resource to deepen your knowledge about brain health and neurologic conditions and inspire you with tips on healthy living. That's the reason why we created BrainandLife.org , which debuts in conjunction with this issue. View the latest stories from Brain & Life along with web-only content, past issues, videos, podcasts, and neurologist and patient blogs.

BrainandLife.org also showcases additional resources and information from the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), including a comprehensive collection of information on neurologic conditions called Disorders A-Z, as well as resources in Spanish, including the new Brain & Life en espanol.

What better way to usher in this new era than with our cover story on Sharon Stone. This gutsy, brainy actress epitomizes our new direction—bold, fearless, and forthright. She shares her hard-won recovery from a brain aneurysm and what she learned along the way. She's emerged happier and healthier than ever.

We're also debuting a new department called Healthy Living, where you can find everyday advice on finances, nutrition, therapy, wellness, and preparing for visits with your doctor. And we're adding a new column called Wonders of the Brain devoted to neurologic mysteries.

Be sure to check us out on social media. If you already follow us, look for a change to @BrainandLifeMag on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

And if you live in the Los Angeles area, be sure to attend the AAN's free Brain Health Fair on April 20 from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Meet the editorial staff and members of the editorial board, peruse past issues, ask questions, read Brain & Life in Spanish, and take home a small gift of our appreciation. As always, we welcome your feedback, so write to us at BrainandLife@wolterskluwer.com and tell us what you think of our new look!
